Your location is personal data. This page explains what Wheelwatch collects, why, who can see it, and how to get it or delete it.
Who we are
Wheelwatch is run by StirnerMedia LLC, 30 N Gould St, Ste N, Sheridan, WY 82801, United States, which is responsible for your data. Contact: [email protected].
Age
Wheelwatch is for people aged 12 and over. If we learn that an account belongs to someone younger, we delete it.
What we collect
- Account: your name, email and the Apple or Google account you sign in with, an optional photo, where you ride and a short bio.
- Rider details for estimated power: weight, bike and kit weight, riding position.
- Rides: GPS positions, speed, altitude and battery level while you record, plus totals worked out from them.
- Social: who you follow, groups, comments, cheers, kudos and blocks.
- Your settings, time zone and the phone's push notification token.
- Crash reports with personal data removed.
We count viewers of a ride with your account or a random ID kept in your browser; we do not store viewers' IP addresses with rides.
Why
To run the service you ask for: recording and sharing your rides, showing them to the people you choose, notifications, recaps and records. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
Who can see your rides
- You choose for each ride: anyone with the link, your followers, or only you.
- A hidden area (200 m to 1 km, 500 m by default) around where each ride starts and ends is never shown to others.
- You can add a broadcast delay, hide your power, and leave Live now.
- Someone opening a followers-only link sees your name so they can follow you.
Where it is kept and who helps us
Data is stored in the EU. These providers process it for us under data processing agreements: Railway (hosting and databases), Mapbox (maps), Sentry (crash reports), our file storage provider (ride files and exports), Expo with Apple and Google (push notifications), Apple and Google (sign-in) and Open-Meteo (weather for a ride's location).
How long
- Detailed GPS points: 12 months, then only a simplified track and the ride totals remain.
- When you delete a ride or your account, it is removed within 30 days, including stored files; backups age out within 30 days.
- Data exports stay available to download for 7 days.
Your rights
You can download all your rides and account data (Settings › Export your data), correct your profile, and delete rides or your whole account in the app. Under the GDPR you can also object to or restrict processing, or complain to your data protection authority. For anything else, write to [email protected].
Cookies
The website uses only the cookies it needs: your sign-in session and an anonymous viewer ID for counting watchers. No advertising or tracking cookies.
